Hey, thank you so much for the feedback. To be honest, Buffy's character has given me the most grief through out this story. Quite simply, if it's not fuffy, I just don't know what to do with her! I'm quite a few chapters ahead of whats been posted so far, and this story has been edited so many times specifically due to the characterization of Buffy. Originally the harshness was a set up for a reveal later on that Buffy had feelings for Faith, kind of making it a love triangle. But I just couldn't find a way to resolve anything without destroying the 3 characters friendships/relationships. So after heavy editing, Buffy doesn't really come off great at the moment. But I hope you stay with the story as she does calm down over time.

The Buffy stuff was fun to write, fighting 'Lestat' and reading 'Daredevil' to Faith. (what else is she gonna read to Faith that she knew she's enjoy?) and yes, big sadness. :(
Be warned, I'm not a big Riley-hater or anything. The guy's got his faults sure but I'm not gonna turn him into a one-note 'jealous boyfriend-type' (hopefully!), he's got his appeal...but he's up against Faith, poor guy!

a little confusing at the start. who or what is the shadow? is it the djinn? confusing. faiths thought process always kind of seemed a little convoluted when it came to herself and her relationships. hopefully clearer heads will appear at some point.

Hmn, I was shooting for 'mysterious' but hey...
The shadowy figure has their own agenda for our two slaying gals and it ain't pretty. (well, actually, in a way it is...) But I don't want to give away any plot but their identity will be revealed, at some point.
I got quite a few e-mails from readers on another site about how 'my Faith' was waay too stable in my last fic, given how she turns out later on.
My argument at the time was that Faith in S3 is all about putting a badass, cool image out there and hiding all her pain and negative emotions behind that 'doesn't give a crap 'tude', but then killing Finch sends her way off the rails into self-loathing and pain and jealousy...
So, in S4 and later on in 'Angel' Faith is all messed up, and unstable to boot. She knows that she's done wrong, deep down, but feels that she made the best of a hopeless situation, and blames Buffy for most of it.
Again, its just my take on the character. Hopefully Buffy can reach her.

Yeah, Riley jumping the gun, or the blaster-thing anyway and getting the wrong end of things- not perfect but hopefully somewhat understandable mistake given Willow's low opinion of Faith.
No love for Forrest here- he's a jerk, end of, and I have an unpleasent end in store for him eventually...
Yes, it is gonna get (much) worse before it gets better...but it will get better, promise. :)

glad your back! excellent chapter. good fight scenes and nasty bad guys, girl couldn't ask for more! love faiths way of summing up her competition, and then taking them out. spike is a goose, but he was right about joyce and so wrong to follow the robed figure! hopefully faith won't trust the doctors.

There's gonna be quite a bit more violence up ahead. Demons, slayers, vamps, a certain robot-demon hybrid thing. Plus Buffy and Faith meeting up again.
They'll be a few more hints as to what all the respective bad guys have in mind for our slayers going forward, hopefully I won't forget anyone!
Yeah, I always thought that how Faith 'reads' people could apply to her fighting skills if she tried, especially since in this particular instance she's showing off a little. ;)
Spike is good at picked up people's weaknesses and insecurities, as will become apparent later on. Unfortunatly ol' robey knows all about Spike's own insecurities, hence the...miscalculation on his part.
Faith isn't going to trust anybody easily, and is a long way off fully trusting Walsh. However, she is enjoying the respite of having an (apparent) ally on her side, especially after getting burned by Buffy- again.
Unfortunatley it won't last that long for our Southie slayer. :(

Yeah, Walsh gets stabbed in the front this time, see how I turn all established plot on its head! I'm crazy that way. :) Still, we'll be entering some familiar territory soon as the slayers meet up.

Faith shot Joyce with a tranq gun given to her by the Initiative. Faith isn't cold-blooded enough to hurt somebody right off the bat like that- she has to get worked up first.
Joyce is still in danger though, in fact part of the next chapter could be called 'Faith vs. Joyce'- although there will be no Home Alone style hi-jinx. Have no fear.
Robey is a girl. Surprise! More revelations about her coming soon, plus what's she up to.

And I'm a big fan of the Joyce/Faith scene in 'This Year's Girl' so I wanted to tweak it to show how Buffy's choices have affected her Mom, not just her.
The canon stuff is coming to end end (for a little while) in a chapter or so, then you'll get a lot more original stuff, and then it may go back to the pattern like in the last fic- episode by episode.

sorry for lack of reviews! you so nailed the girls (buffy and faith) in this chapter. the one thing that stuck out for me was that only anya (sort of) wished faith luck! everyone else was all about buffy, i luv buffy but faith was willing to help and giles should have acknowledged that at least!

I'm glad that the Buffy/Faith characterisation is ringing true, since their the most impotant characters inthe story- so yay me. And the focus will be mostly on them in the coming chapters.
Yeah, Anya has no axe to grind now that her man is safe. *G* Xander wanted to wish Buffy luck (to show his support) and Giles was still wondering about the wisdom of her decision- poor Faith got ignored by them both as a result. :(

This one's not comics-compliant (though - aside from some weirdness - the season 8 and sesason 9 BtVS comics are pretty damn good (especially season 9 and the Angel + Faith spinoff), IMO). I think you're referring to my note that I consider "Go Ask Malice" to be canon? If so, get thee to a bookstore/Amazon! "Go Ask Malice: A Slayer's Diary" is a Buffy-verse novel by Robert Joseph Levy detailing Faith's backstory, but it has yet to be officially sanctioned by Joss Whedon as canon. It's a really good read either way. :)
