Damn. I'm sure you've heard this a thousand time, but girl you can write. This was a nice thing to read before getting to the rest of the day. The Kelly Clarkson songs were perfect for what you wanted them to do, playing the music really enhanced the experience. Fantastic :)

Such a good chapter. So much happened. The scene where Faith is crying in Buffy's bed was especially powerful. Plus the whole misunderstanding with that first kiss and then.. the making out on the bed that ended awkwardly. Great great chapter. Love the pacing and the tone of this story so far. Truly enjoyable overall =)

Author's Response:

Woohoo, I'm excited to see you reading this moldy oldy. :)  Thanks very much, hope you enjoy it all the way through. This was my first fuffy (not first fanfic, but we shan't speak of the unspeakably awful attempts of 15 year old me :p).

The thing with the christmas lights and topless Faith.. that was a great scene. The lighting effects gave me some amazing visuals in my head. So far this story has scored high marks on all chapters for me. I'm loving it. Please consider writing something like this in the next story you write... that is to say something that is obviously filled with Fuffy goodness but definatelly has that Adventure/Slaying aspect to it as well. I think those are the very best stories IMHO. And you know what? You do it great if this story is anything to go by. Will keep reading   :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, Six! Let's make a deal, bring your fic over here, and I will write Chutes 2. Okay. I'm lying. But I can promise you that my next fic is about half done and pretty fuffy-filled, although not super heavy on plot. How about you just post your fic anyway?  :)

I do love this fic a lot. Mid way through I stopped, and couldn't get started again for a long time. I think my writing style changed on me, if that makes any sense. I don't know if I can write something quite like this again, but I'm sure I have some cute fluffy stuff up my sleeve somewhere *looks in sleeve, books fall out and hit in face.* So what I'm saying in this rambling is, thank you, and I'll keep in mind the suggestion for future.

F-ing council. Barbarian dinosaurs. Grrrr. Glad everyone made it out alive (well of course Faith wasnt gonna die) but its a frustrating situation. If Buffy wasn't getting all loved up with Faith and wasnt firmly in her corner this would be an automatic Faith Goes To The Dark Side scenario I imagine. Very good chapter, that one vampire was a tough coustumer. =)

Author's Response:

Boo council, yay slayers. I definitely think Buffy is the only thing that keeps Faith on track here. Not just because of their changing relationship, but the way she reacts to them learning about the cruciamentum. It's very much them against the council, and I think Faith needs to see that.

Back to being 'friends' again after sort of mostly making up after the big Christmas fight. Man, it's good because can't have the realtionship thing resolved this early in the story really. But its always just that big frustrating when it seems like they take one step forward and two steps back. Oh well I'm sure it will work out in the end. This was a very good chapter. The whole thing at the bronze and the girls grinding on guys trying to make each other jealouse was a fun scene. :)

Author's Response:

Haha, yeah, I see how's frustrating. Don't worry, they won't be doing that for too much longer. ;)

5 weeks of avoiding each other after Buffy turned her down for sex? Geez what a bunch of whiny wimps. Maybe Faith is just an emotional retard... ok I can see that. Not really knowing enough/having enough experience to realize what may be troubling Buffy. But Buffy is the most retarded of them all, its frustrating.

Maybe its just me but I'm direct and hate all that pussyfutting around. If I was in Buffy's shoes I'd be like "Hey, I want you. But if you come back to my place/I go to yours I want us to spend the night together. I loved it that first time we did it and I don't want to go back to not doing that again.". See? That would solve all of the immideate and many of the long term problems.

Oh well. We know that both our Slayers are not the smartest people emotionally speaking. Makes for good drama but can be damn frustrating. Great chapter, look forward to the next.

Author's Response:

Yep, both of them are emotionally challenged, just in different ways.  They both are frustrating that way.

Damn. The feels. It's so good and having a cliffhanger is kinda traumatizing cuz there were fights and bad feelz between Faith and Buffy in this chapter.

Was Willow really this bitchy in season 6? I dont remember but it sounds sorta right. You write Faith and Buffy both really well, not sure how but you both get them and make them feel not only completely sympathetic but also beautifully lay out their motivations and thought processes. It takes real skill and as I'm sure many people have told you your skill in writing is impressive.

I'm totally digging this story. It's cool because it gives me something extra to look forward to on Fridays. So far I'm liking this story a lot better than it's predecesor FfaG. Don't ask me why I just am. =)

Author's Response:

Willow definitely had her moments in canon, like the attitude toward Giles in the last chapter--that was exactly how she acted when he found out about the ressurection spell. During the season she did get worse and worse, although of course she opted to do stuff like erase people's memories instead of talking, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch for her to act like this. Plus, she does have legitimate anger toward Faith, and she doesn't know Alt Buffy very well yet.

Thank you very much. :) I think Buffy and Faith are both right, which is why they can't really see eye to eye, and both are so hurt by their circumstances, it's... ugh. Now I gave myself feels! D: Haha. Better go channel these into the chapter I'm working on. :p

Reviewer: SixPerfections Signed
Date: 09/13/2013 Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Let's see.. It doesn't FEEL like there was a lot of movement on the Buffy/Faith front in this chapter. But that is totally understandable. There needed to be a transition chapter introducing us to the new situation in Sunnyhell. Having Amy be the Big Bad is kinda nice because its different. Are we thinking like Amy is as big and bad as Bad Willow? I'm guessing she'd be pretty scary if that is the case.

It's weird though because I didn't really feel even a little bit of romantic tension between the two in this chapter. Maybe that was inentional? Maybe not. But I have faith that you will resolve that issue of the non-romanticism tension in the next chapter. That's what the whole fic is about anyway! I can see some angst coming on the Buffy front. She's gonna be all attracted to Faith but feel all guilty because she's thinking of Alt-Faith. I know there has to be some of that but please do something to make it feel different than Alt-Faith being all super-guilty-hesitatant with canon Buffy in FfaG. It would be cool if Buffy was just like 'fuck it, I like you, i know you're not her but I've had two years to grieve and dammit I want your hotness'. That would be sweet. And I'm sure Faith will get all 'she doesn't want me for me, she thinks i'm someone else blah blah blah' and try to sabotage everything even though she really wants Buffy. Sigh. Is that even close to what's gonna happen?

This chapter by itself was important but not quite as viscerally satifying on the romance/feelz department as the last one. But the plot point introduced and the little magical things with Amy were really neat.

Look forward to more next Friday! :)

Author's Response:

Yes, Amy is supposed to be that bad. More detail will come over the next few chapters. :)

It wasn't intended to be overtly romantic, but I did intend for their confused feelings to continue, for instance when Buffy takes Faith's arm and begins studying the wound on her neck.

The time jump serves two purposes, which were to avoid endless prison visiting scenes, and to move Buffy to a different place than Alt Faith was at in Flowers. The relationship between B/F here will progress very differently than it did in the companion story. I hope you'll like how it goes. I wouldn't say the next chapter is overflowing with romance either, but trust me, we'll get there.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, Six!! :)

Beefstick is going to do something stupid. I just know it. Probably sic the initiative on Faith. Idiot! Jealouse idiot at that.

The solution to Buffy's problem is simple; be in a real relationship with Faith! Then you wont have to agonize over being in love with her or not. Should fix the problem right? :D

I think it's safe to say that Riley won't be making any more appearances.  And yes, her problem would be an easy fix, wouldn't it?  Too bad nothing's easy when it comes to them.

Your writing style is so compelling. And it's really nice to see Buffy in this story being Pro-Faith in her own way. You'd think we'd see more fics like this but I can't really think of too many like it even though it makes sense that she would be if they could stop Faith from going bonkers right after she wakes up.

I think its realistic and great to see that the adults are willing to give Faith a chance and all the younger poeple are not (I 'm not counting Riley in this). It makes sense and kinda reinforces somewhat that the scoobs are still young and in some ways still kids.

For sure enjoyed this a great deal and am looking forward to the next installment. Great job!

Author's Response:

Thanks, SP!  Buffy is definitely Pro-Faith in her own way.  She's not exactly wearing a cheerleader outfit and jumping around for joy, but . . . *slowly drifts off, lost in my thoughts*    . . . wait, where was I??  :p  But seriously, Buffy really wants to do right.  They fucked up their first time around, and that may or may not have been her fault.  This time, she definitely does NOT want it to be, not even partly.

I'm sure Buffy is praying the Scoobies will come around soon.  She's always needed them in her corner and this is really no different a siituation.

Thanks so much for reading and for your review.  I do appreciate it greatly :)

So very different, and so very good! Kinda sad Faith died but... well we never find out she died until after she is re-intrododuced so no real mourning perior or anything.

The whole devil wings and horns and (lol!) tail thing was very entertaining and I can't believe it was never done before. To have Faith looking like a literal succubus? (I know you didnt mean for her to be a succubus but if you look up pictures of them they are your Faith-demon down to the last detail).. it was a fantastic idea.

The interations between B and F were great too. I'm glad Faith went to find Buffy at the end in the hotel room, I didn't think she would.. thought she would pull a Faith and just vanish. Glad she came to her senses. Really enjoyed the story, good luck in winning the contest!

Author's Response:

Thanks a lot!

I hadn't thought of Faith as a succubus, I was just going for a general devil feel, but you're right, that is a standard look for them and I think it adds a little extra something to the fic.

This was incredibly sweet. And Tara... oh my Tara dying was like one of the top two biggest tragedies in all of BtvS, the second one was not having a lot more Faith in the series :P. Buffy shagging Spike was pretty traggic too. ANYWAY Tara is sneaky and sneaky lesbians can always be a force for good. It was about time someone intervened to get B and F together.. I mean even with the AU up to your imagination background it just seemed like that.

Glad Buffy got brave and decided to make a move. 'Bout time someone did.

It was a fun fic that I enjoyed a great deal! Fantastic job. Good luck with the contest!

Author's Response:

Hehe, I agree with your list of BtVS tragedies.  Fortunately (or not), I didn't watch the show until long after it was over, so I knew in advance that Tara was going to die and had time to prepare myself for it (as well as prepare myself for all the other things that happened in that season).  Definitely still hurt though.  I remember one episode (I think it was the one where her horrible family shows up) where Tara makes a bad joke in front of the Scoobies and no one laughs, but I was like "omg, Willow, your girlfriend is completely adorable!"  Such a shame how Willow treated her though :c  That honestly hurt almost as much as her death.  I'd love for her to still be around post season 6, and for some dumb reason I have this headcanon where she'd ship Buffy and Faith together.  I'm glad I was able to finally bring that to life in fanfic form  c:

Anyways, I'm super glad you enjoyed!  Even if I don't win, it was a lot of fun challenging myself to write this.  I never imagined I would be able to write over 7000 words in 4 days and have it turn out well enough for a bunch of people to like it ^^

Thanks for adding the final scene. I can see the appeal for leaving it up to the imagination but still... a story ending like that would be so sad! We're Americans, we're all about happy endings and don't deal with tragedies quite so well. We ain't Greek! Anyway that was a lovely story. Buffy and Faith made up very quickly but it was neccessary in a story this short.. but how they made up was great and credible. Buffy admitting the whole trying to kill Faith and how sorry she was etc. was a great scene that I think will the the one scene in this story that will stick with me. Well that one and desperately kissing with one minute left to go. That was pretty darn great too.

Great job with this story :). It was so sweet!

Author's Response:

Lol! I don't think we're all in the US. The British have invaded us. Perhaps they like a tragedy?

Thank you! This thing was behemoth sized compared to my typical chapter and still I was worried about the word limit. No time to drag out the making up, but I suppose I give them plenty of drama in other fics anyway. :p

Man. Interesting chapter. Poor Buffy got the crap beat out of her by Mr Trick and his vampy goons. I was wincing for her, she was in a lot of trouble. You made the whole scenario seem pretty damn terrifying. I knew she wouldnt die but I couldn't help but feeling through that fight that Faith was suddenly going to be one lonely slayer.

The dream with Faith in it was messed up. So was Buffy feeling a bit apprehensive about Faith when she woke up. So ... I'm guessing it's the wish demon that's messing with Buffy's head. This is when he starts to get his pound of flesh. Still... I'm not a huge fan of fics where one or the other Slayer gets mind controlled/possessed/cursed/etc to start acting weird and put a strain on their relationship. There are plenty of ways for them to have relationship challenges, hell there are enough fo those without some outside influence like that. Still I'm just guessing where you might be going with this. I have no idea and am excited to find out.

Faith Slaying with xander and willow in the beginning was really nice btw. Seeing Willow so happy to be out Slaying with Faith was such a huge shocker of a difference from how much she hated her.. and now she really likes her. I'm just saying it was fun to see. And the banter about wolverine and spider-man made me crack up, I'm a sucker for geeky pop culture references :D

Random sidenote: if you take requests, I'm going to make one that you include a few more scenes at some point of Joyce mothering Faith. It's really sweet and heartwarming and something I enjoy (and that Faith could use). Just think about it :)

Wonderful chappy, as ususal.

Author's Response:

Yeah, poor Buffy seems to be getting slapped around a lot, and she's in for some more pain! (I do feel really bad doing it, but drama is drama). I'm glad you enjoyed all the fight-y stuff.

Nope, no possession, I'm just reminding people how badly the Buffy/Faith thing actually went...and yes it is linked to her wish, as will become clearer a couple of chapters later.

Well, Faith reads lots of comic books, so she has some geeky creds, and the slaying with Xander and Willow, while unusual, will be explained. Glad you enjoyed the nerd banter!

There will be a lot of Joyce/Faith stuff in 'The Zeppo'- to see why, keep reading...

Reviewer: SixPerfections Signed
Date: 03/10/2014 Title: Chapter 17: Helpless: Part 2 (What's Right About This Passage Again?)

Oh man. That was messed up as hell. It was pretty cool that Faith did in fact complete the 'test' more or less on her own but goddamn. That was most certainly in the not-cool bracket. And I get that she thinks Buffy is hiding something, Faith is unscooled not stupid and she can be pretty perceptive on occasion. Man this was the worst thing ever.

Just random note, it's not a big deal but I'm pretty sure in canon Faith is like a year to a year and a half younger than Buffy. Well, I'm mostly sure but I can't be 100% sure its not something I picked up from just reading fanfiction. Anyway its not a big deal just commenting.

And what the hell was wrong with Buffy that she kept feeling so weak? I really wanted to know. Apperantly it has nothing to do with the Council. Could it be the time travel demon? IDK. Hope she gets better.

It looks like Buffy will eventually have to spill the beans to Faith as to what actually happened. Hope she takes it well. Poor girl.  :(

Author's Response:

It was indeed all messed up. But then so was the original 'Helpless', poor Faith, I really messed her up. But at least she got to beat Kralik in her own, unique way!

Faith is book-smart, but she does read people pretty well. Especially their insecurities or desires. (Buffy, Willow, Spike)

Canon-wise, its never revealed how old Faith is, ever. Buffy refers to her as 'little sis' but Faith also makes reference to being older ('Big sister's clothes.').

I guess I'm using 'Go Ask Malice' (a fine book, but not canon- almost canon) as a reference which mentions when Faith's birthday is (Dec 18th), and also references that Diana Dormer was preparing a 'slayer-test' thing for Faith so soon after they'd met. (I kind of erased that part in my own mind, either Faith never read Diana's Watcher diary, or totally forgot about most of the stuff she read after all the stress/trauma she suffers in Boston.)

I also know that Eliza was 17/18 when she first portrayed Faith (amazing I know), while SMG was playing 17/18.

Anyway, I'm satisfied that the two slayers are pretty much the same age, Faith is older and more experienced in some things, but much more immature/child-like in other ways.

The 'weakness' thing will come back with an explanation very soon- along with a lot of other things...

I always appreciate your analysis/comments. Thank you!

Ok I gotta say... I love Angel. He's such a good guy. He's giving the girl he loves but can't be with really good relationship advice unsolicited to help her get back together with her girl so she'll be happy. Random sidenote, Angel to me is an OK character on BTVS but he really shines on AtS, like a lot. Anyway, moving on...

Joyce is smart, I'm glad she went to bat to help Faith feel secure and to keep her from leaving even if she did have to do a little bit of playacting. The scene with Faith laying back on Joyce's lap while Joyce played with her hair was so goddamn maternal I was making internal fan-squeal noises from how sweet it was. It was a nice touch in this chapter for sure.

As to the rest of it.. its good to know the girls really care about each other. Of course Faith reacted to the impending apocalipse in an unhealthy way by wanting to go get drunk before the big fight (?) but in her own roundabout way she totally let us know how much she cared about Buffy. Oh and then Buffy had to go with the whole 'i'm in love with you' speech... I have to admit that little speech was cheesy as hell. Still i can't be too upset about that. When she said it it worked even if I cringed a little at what felt like a few cliche'd lines. Still this chapter ended on an awesome high. Very nicely done :)

Man but next is Bad Girls... I'm kinda scared. 'Cuz I can't help but wonder/think that really bad game changing things are gonna happen. That's what that episode was all about after all. Gah!

Author's Response:

Yeah, we don't really see how noble Angel can be until he has his own show, so this is just a rare glipse. Aw, no wonder he was Buffy's first love. (And yes, I used to 'ship Bangel, a while ago now. Fuffy's way more interesting.)

Yeah, I always wished that Faith/Joye got more scenes together. Or maybe something with Faith commenting sadly to Buffy about Joyce's death. I think she would've been sorry that Joyce would've passed without getting a chance to apologise/make amends to her. Ah, well...

YES! The speech was absolutly meant to be cheesy- so Xander could overhear/witness it. It was my homage to the overly dramatic Bangel scene in the origninal 'Zeppo', I'm so pleased that somebody picked up on that!

I wanted to make the speech heartfelt and important, maybe even moving- but it also had to be very Buffy-in-an-angsty-relationship moment.

And yeah, if Faith knew that the world could actually end, she might not act in an emotionally healthy way, imo.

Thanks for your commentary!

P.S- Yes, Bad Girls will be a game changer...

Oh Snap I forgot about Wesley. He's one of the, if not the character that changes the most throught Buffy/Angel. He really becomes quite badass. In the beginning though he's such an annoying stuffed shirt I'd kinda forgotten about that haha. Though he didn't seem all that bad in this chapter, especially in the beginning.

Buffy's brainless valley girl act with Wes by the way? Priceless. She really pushed the envelope a bit with that one. I was picturing it in my head and smirking the whole time.

Buffy pulling the girlfriend card on Faith and getting her to behave with Wes.. maybe a little underhanded but well worth it. When you get to do things over a second time I guess you can do them way better. Go Buffy! :D. It's fun because it doesn't always work out right.

It was a tiny scene, but Willow seemingly thinking impure thought about Buffy and Faith and then going on a babble fest of excuses after saying it outloud.. priceless.

BTW I thought for sure Buffy was gonna be responsible this time and not skip out of class. Oh well, no biggie. Fun/great chapter!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I'm a big Wesley fan, although to be honest I only really start to warm to him in Angel during 'Five By Five'- one of my favourites. His arch is really well-realised.

Buffy the valley girl- I had fun with that, no denying it.

The 'girlfriend' card is underhand, a total manipulation of Faith's new feelings for her, but the ends are noble so in this case Buffy gets a pass. She just can't go around abusing power like that though, she'll get corrupted. :)

Oh, that! That was sort of foreshadowing for Season 4...I will always think Willow was maybe a little attracted to Buffy to begin with, sort of a crush that didn't go anywhere so it disappeared. Maybe she had a similar thing with Faith, might explain why it turned to dislike so fast....

Thanks for the feedback, always welcome!

Ok maybe it was your Beta writing the sexy scenes or whatever but.. praise is deserved either way

The going to third base on the couch out the Bronze? Wow that is so unlike typical Buffy I'm guessing her brain was drowned in hormones. It was very intimate and sexy though. Fantasticly hot

The rest of it? Whoever wrote it has a real talent for this type of thing. I need a cigarette too

Author's Response:

My beta's been so pleased with the praised heaped upon her that she's already writing new scenes...I don't know where the scenes are going to fit in yet but I guess they'll be more a lot more sexy stuff somewhere in the future.

Ah, the Bronze stuff was all me. *beams*, so thanks for that.

Oh, and as I remember, wasn't Buffy was all over Angel in 'Bad Girls', (might be remembering that wrongly...) anyway, seeing as she can go a lot further with Faith...yes, big attack of the hormones,

Much thanks.

You know... if that person who grabbed Willow was Allen Finch, the idiot deserves to get stabbed. I mean who wades into a brawl between Slayers and Vamps and grabs someone from behind with no warning? Someone with a death wish that's who.

The opening scene of Buffy scrambling when her mom came in and kicking the vibrator under the bed was great. Pretty hilarious.

Hope Faith doesn't kill Allen but since this chapter is titled 'meant to be' I'm guessing you were talking about more than just Buffy and Faith's relationship. Whatever happens I hope the badness isn't too bad. Hey you never SAID outright that whoever grabbed Willow was Finch, maybe it really was a vamp? hard to tell.

Love it. Can't wait for the next update :)

Author's Response:

Personally I thought Finch deserved to get stabbed the first time. I envisiged Buffy and Faith explained things to Giles and him just shaking his head sadly and saying 'Pillock!' In his defence maybe Finch didn't know anything about the slayers identities (unlikely) except that they would eventually go to fight Balthazar, which assumes that he'd found out where Balthazar was and his bodd hadn't...Hmn, so many plot holes, now that I think on it.

The morning after was really fun to write, much of an improvement from escaping from a cop car!

The rest of it...you'll just have to wait, there is bad stuff coming soon though.

Short but sweet chapter. I don't know if I'm happy or sad Faith didn't kill Finch. Happy because all the pain and badness is avoided. Sad because it misses out on a whole lot of drama and character development potential. Still it's your story and it's as always very good, I'm one hundred percent on board :).

You have a great way to make little moments seem special. Like the Scoobies talking at the end and Cordi and Xander interacting, or Willow's contribution to the fight and her Willow-y goodness. You've got writing Buffy down to an art IMO :)

Look forward to next chapter.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the feedback, always appreciated.

I agree that the whole Finch getting killed thing is a big part of Faith's character development, a lot of her appeal for me is wrapped up in her mistakes, her fall into darkness and her redemption. She lot like Angel except Faith looks better in a tight top and leather pants, just sayin'.

And don't worry there's plenty of pain and badness coming up for the two slayers...but mainly for Buffy. :(

Yeah, although this is a Fuffy story, I always try to include the Scoobies in stuff. I think it gives the whole thing more of a 'this could be an actual episode' feel, that helps sell all the other stuff. Plus, I'm learning to love writing Willow especially. (one of my favourite characters but I didn't know if I could get her voice down.)

Thanks again.
