Good story so far, I am ashamed to say that I didn't read this story soon enough, and should have, considering that its set in season 4, my fav era for buffy/faith fics.

Excellent chapter. I laughed aloud at the whole exchange between Giles and Anya. " It takes place in London" I love Anya. Can't wait to read your version of the dream state from the Restless episode.
Author's Response:Thank you! Having Anya and Giles in the same room is always a goldmine of comedic possibilities, the only difficulty is keeping her in character. My general rule is that she should say the most socially inappropriate thing possible, lol. Hope you enjoy the next chapter, and I hope I get enough free time to actually write it ^^

i'm loving this! cannot wait to see whats on the other side of the door!? pretty much nailed all the characters. hope your going to put in at least a couple of paragraphs of xander in prison, should be hilarious! must say i really don't care to much for wills in this fic, i think the jealously is a little exaggerated, just a little. great job, looking forward to more!

Author's Response:O: Sorry about the cliffhanger! I hadn't originally planned to end the chapter at that point, but it was necessary in order to keep it at a managable length. And yeah, unfortunately, real life hasn't been very kind to me lately, so my writing's suffered in quantity if not quality. Unfortunately, even if things were going well, one update per month would probably be as much as I could manage.
ANYWAYS, I'm really glad you're enjoying the story so much! It's kind of embarassing how much time I spend looking for just the right quote, so it's a relief to hear people are appreciating them. And I'll try to keep your inner fan girl from getting too upset with me! ^^
This is gooood.
Lots of good plot stuff and character interaction (I love the Faith/Tara conversations).
All the characterisation is great. Buffy and Faith especially. Tara is really sweet...
And, yeah, I get where Willow's coming from, but she should follow Buffy's lead on this. Just saying.
This is well worth the waiting, looking forward to the slayers kicking all kinds of butt!
Author's Response:Thanks, glad to hear you're still enjoying it! You can expect more Faith/Tara interactions to come. A fuffy author can always earn points with me if they give Faith some positive relationships outside of just the one with Buffy. Plus, it helps me indulge my love for Tara ^^ Willow is going to take longer to come around, but you won't have to worry about her giving a big "why we should still hate Faith" speech every other chapter or something.
And yep, there's a 100% chance of buttkicking occuring in the next chapter, hopefully enough to satisfy everyone!
Just read this from chapter one till now, very interesting story, though you got some stuff wrong, for example Angel already knew about Buffy's new boyfriend because faith told him that in the episode sanctuary.

I really like this story. And the conversation between Joyce and Faith was really humanizing, giving both characters more depth and showing how a bond could be developed rather than just having one because Joyce is so cool or Faith just needs a mother figure. I hope to see an update soon. That is if life doesn't decide to physically manifest itself again and maybe kick you or something. Great update.

Really nice chapter- starting to warm to this a lot.
I always thought Season 4 was a good spot to do an original story- probably because the actual plot is...less that compelling.
I like the insights into Buffy and Faith's characters. Buffy being jealous of Willow/Tara- their shared power- is inspired. Something i've never seen anywhere else yet makes perfect sense!
Love the details obout Faith's childhood- sweet and sad at the same time.

I tend to agree with you about season 4. The Adam arc as a whole was pretty dull, and that's the primary reason why he hasn't shown up in my story yet, even though there were several opportunities for it to happen in the last two chapters. I doubt anyone really cares what happens to him as long as he's gone for good ^^
Yay, I'm glad to hear it! I want to eventually see B and F begin to reenforce each other, sort of like Willow and Tara have done. It's going to take a while of course, but yeah, that's the plan.
Whew, the last scene with Joyce and Faith was one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. I don't know how other writers do it. Every time the subject of Faith's childhood comes up I just wish she was real so I could hug her.

Amazing! And heartfelt and another worthy chapter to this piece. I always thought through the few times we saw them together in the show, that Faith had found something, some sort of surrogate mother figure in Joyce whenever they had a scene together. And here I can really see it. It's nice to see Faith making progress in the healing of relationships process, even if it isn't with Buffy yet. It is also interesting to think of Buffy looking at what Willow has with Tara and envying it or having wanted something like that with Faith. I would'nt have thought of that.
I mean I know Buffy always wanted someone to be able to understand her life, but when she had Faith in the series, it just seemed like she was so unappreciative of Faith being there. Angel being back sort of made her focus return to him and Faith was neglected. Then in season four there was Riley, who I didn't dislike as a character, but I didn't like him for Buffy. So hopefully, after all of the dust settles, Buffy and Faith can hash out their issues. I am also wondering if Faith will have to go back to prison after all this. Good work. :)
P.S.- I love Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo. It is my all time favorite book and I would just like to give you even more kudos for quoting Dumans! :)
Author's Response:Thank you! Yeah, Faith really needs that sort of support. It was super hard to write, but it was really nice to get a scene in there where Faith opens up to Joyce. I really want to see Faith's relationships grow as the story progresses.
And I agree with what you had to say about Buffy. In season 3 it seemed like she wanted someone who could understand her life, yet at the same time there was some definite resentment of Faith's presence. Perhaps because it made Buffy less special? I dunno. Buffy's a little older and wiser now though, and she's seen the effect that Tara has had on Willow,. Also, even though's she's being totally stubborn, she's starting to sense the difference in Faith.
I'm still not sure if Riley will ever make an appearance in this story. My primary reason for being cold on him comes from his neediness while Joyce was dying of cancer. He completely failed at being the supportive boyfriend there, I think, though that's not really why he hasn't been here (it stems more from there being a ton of characters already: Buffy, Faith, Willow, Tara, Giles, Joyce and Anya). But if he does turn up, I don't have anything dramatic in mind for him, no huge breakup argument with Buffy, or plans to turn him into a big bad or anything. I always hate it when people do that. to be honest. I don't need Riley to be abusive in order to ride the Buffy/Faith train c: And as for what happens next, well, the temptation is always strong to just tell you, but I shouldn't spoil it!
I'm embarrassed to say I haven't read that book yet :c I should see if I can find an unabridged audiobook version somewhere. I could always use some adventure in my life ^^
Wonderful story! Can't wait for the next update. Hopefully Buffy realizes that everything with Faith isn't just an act before she has to go back to prison. Bravo. :)

Great chapter! :) I hate Willow, although that's a pre-existing problem. :p I was a little confused about the necklaces. Didn't Giles point out that prison couldn't actually hold Faith, and she was clearly staying of her own free will? Why would she need to be on lockdown now? I didn't like Buffy in that moment when she grabbed Faith and then didn't care at all that she hurt her. At least Joyce seems happy to see her.
Author's Response:I tend to agree. It's hard for me to look past how she treats Tara, especially in season 6.
Regarding the necklaces, they're more for everyone else's peace of mind rather than to keep Faith in line. Giles doesn't believe that Faith will do anything bad, but if they're all going to go up against Adam and his demon army, then he needs Buffy, Willow and Tara concentrating on the task at hand and not worrying that Faith is gonna run, or do something horrible to Buffy. Obviously, in that respect, it hasn't fully worked, at least not as far as Buffy is concerned.
Oh, and Buffy does care, at least a little, she's just in denial. She is the master of that, after all. This takes place not long after the whole "apologize to me and I'll beat you death" speech, so she's not ready to forgive just yet, or admit any fault whatsoever, but it will happen. And you don't have to worry that Buffy will continue to treat Faith this poorly. Neither me, nor Buffy, is that sadistic ^^
I liked the insights into Faith's thoughts here. I'm a big fan of the Angel/Faith friendship too so I liked his appearance. Interesting to see how Faith fares once teleported.
Author's Response:Glad to hear it! Angel won't play a huge role in this story, but I think it's important for Faith to have sources of support from people outside of Buffy. She'll gain other friends too along the way.

I share Willow's reservations about Xander being under cover though. It kept doing this thing where it would double-space every paragraph, but I finally figured out how to get it to not do that. Don't worry about Xander, he'll be okay, well, mostly okay.
