Great story, whether it's a long or short one it always work with me!
This nice, sweet and short one is a good way for me to call it a day and move on with all the other things I need to do before it's bedtime... I dunno if I am feeling excited or afraid right now with the perspective that pretty soon I'll be done with your short stories and I'll need to move on to your series. I went through Nothing Falls In Vain and I was so hooked that I barely slept the other day...
Author's Response:It's always a surprise when someone goes back to this old, old stuff and leaves comments. I know you're already into some of the long series by now. I hope you're resting up between chapters!
I like this. While I usually like concrete endings so I know for sure the characters are happy and safe, this ending left me at such an uplifting note that I know they'll be happy for sure. Thank you!
P.S. I'm so addicted to your fics and writing. But I have work again for the next two nights. lol I'm going to not sleep enough again I just know it
Author's Response:I hope you've begun sleeping normally again... lol
Daww cute one shot about buffy asking Faith to stay!
sorry for the short review; i'm on my phone
Author's Response:No worries, it's a short story! :)
"I mean, sure, you’re like the scary cousin with the criminal record who we fret over, but we still invite you to parties.” Oh my god, you're right! Faith is totally the scary convict cousin who just might drink too much and dirty-dance with another cousin! :p
Loved this. Loved Buffy standing up for a change and doing what she should have done right from the beginning. It was a refreshing take on the Faith/Buffy story and I, for one, was happy to read it. No need to kick you. :p
She knows why Faith has a hard time believing her, but Buffy’s on her third life now, and all of them have been too short for regrets. This could very well be her last one, and she intends to make it count.
Perfect. Just perfect.
Author's Response:Lol! No comment on what I now assume is the state of your family parties... :p Glad you liked it!
Shhh, no kicking...
It's fine and I'm happy. Good one-shot, and no errors that I noticed. As someone who thoroughly enjoyed your Ten Roads series, I'm always thrilled to discover just how much a good author can do in a short work.
Look forward to more of whatever you're inspired to write.
Author's Response:I was actually inspired to finish the next chapter of Girl! :D It's done and at the beta. Woot!
Thank you, glad you liked this one. :)
Uhh, absolutely no kicking you. I don't care what you write, as long as you keep writing beautiful stories like this!
How in the hell do you pack such a punch into just a little nothing one-shot between Chosen and whenever? For instance:
“You’re really just gonna leave again—we’ll go back to being strangers?”
“Isn’t that how you like it?”
“I’m telling you, it’s not.”
I mean, come on. That is one of the best dialogues between Buffy and Faith I've seen, and it's only three lines long! How do you do that? As hopeful and open-ended as Chosen left the story, I always wished Buffy and Faith had a real conversation like this about what was next and where they stood.
I love the acknowledgement in this that Buffy finally realizes that they're all on borrowed time."She knows why Faith has a hard time believing her, but Buffy’s on her third life now, and all of them have been too short for regrets." There's no time life for grudges or weird mixed signals. They've all lost too much and they've seen the kind of risks and consequences that come with saving the world over and over, and I love that Buffy is willing to make her case for Faith being a part of their family.
Beautiful little one-shot! More please of anything you want to write!
Author's Response:Thank you! :) I don't know if it was my best dialogue, but I will certainly take the compliment! *Looks frantically at the number of things I need to devote to you for excellent reviewing vs. number of stories I actually have in process*
I haven't read the comics but from what I know about them, I think there was wasted potential to develop B/F more as friends at least. Why wouldn't you want to do that and milk all that wonderful angsty drama?? Crazy writers. Plus I think Buffy would still have some lingering thoughts about Faith going back to the dark side, but for the most part, I thought some trust was built in Season 7. I can totally see her attempting to reach out after they drive away from the crater.
I know I've been saying this for weeks now, but the next chapter of Girl is seriously so close to being done... :) that's what I'm working on at the moment.
this was sweet, but I gotta say as a coffee lover I was disappointed that there was only bad coffee, but at least Buffy was brave enough to drink it.Loved this line " but Buffy’s on her third life now, and all of them have been too short for regrets. This could very well be her last one, and she intends to make it count." I like that Buffy is realizing the importance of making amends with Faith and making their relationship more than it has been. Very nice.
Author's Response:Haha! Sorry to disappoint you! :) I actually don't drink coffee, so I'd disappoint you even if I tried haha. Thank you for checking it out anyway. :) I'll give someone a nice mocha soon.
Gaaaaaaaah! Sneak attack!!! You wrote and posted without giving me a hint. Hahahah!!!
I'm not sure if I should feel happy or hurt by this ignorance. Happy I guess, cause you actually posted something. And this something was very enjoyable even if it's so short.
I loved how I can picture the smallest of actions by how well you described them. Best part I think was when Buffy remained seated as Faith towered over her. Speaks well about how much Buffy can read Faith.
Was there a hint of Fuffy in this story? Maybe in the next chapter!!! LoL wishful thinking huh. But I'll never know what will happen tomorrow. I'm glad they didn't end up having sex in Faith's room. I mean you could have written it so that scene would be plausible. But the ending hints of the possibilities... Happy ones.
Happy birthday Brat! Thanks for giving us a story even though I owe you a gift.
P.s. How come this isn't in Ten Roads?
Author's Response:I thought you liked surprises! I wrote it pretty quick. Don't get upset now. #alto5ever
There wasn't much fuffy, you're right. Haha! It didn't feel right. It wasn't a Ten Roads because it wasn't long enough or fuffy enough. :p I'd put in a little cuddle if not smoochies if it were Ten Roads! :D
Well this was a nice snack-sized surprise! A very enjoyable little drabble. Which makes me miss seeing your writing more often.
I won't kick you but I will give you maximum puppy dog eyes of guilt.
-PUPPY EYES INTENSIFY-
That aside, this is a perfectly crafted little scene of what could have taken place after the fall of Sunnydale. The dialogue is light yet spot on and I like that you left us with very subtle subtext rather than a full on show of affection or something similar. Nicely ambiguous.I hope to see more from you soon. Of anything. All your writing rocks my teacups, which is a British saying I just invented.
Author's Response:I'm more of a pussy cat girl myself, so your puppy eyes will do no good. :D
Thank you, and I appreciate the new British phrase all for me lol. Next chapter of Girl is forthcoming. Soon!
no kicking, its not girl but it was cute. ELVIS? REALLY! hes left the building!lol. had such a crush on him when i was a very little kid! sigh, such a waste (loss?)
Author's Response:Lol! Did you?? Why are you up so late, Mad? :) Faith and you are both Elvis fans, hahah.
Hey, that was a fun little fic- drabbles have their place and this was really nice, low-key stuff. Just the two of them interacting after all those things they went through together.
You really nailed the awkwardness in their interactions during this time and also, and this might seem weird, the quiet atmosphere, that feeling that there were just the two of them and everybody else was asleep.
And, most importantly, Faith stayed!
I never understood why they were apart in the comics, Faith was the second most important slayer and she's just...stuck somewhere (Cleaveland?) while all the other Soobies-and Andrew!- are doing important stuff in Europe...*grrr*
This is what should've happened, no doubt.
Thanks for this.
P.S- I am waiting patiently for Girl, I love it and I won't kick you!
Author's Response:Where in heck do you live that you're awake and reading fic right now? I actually posted this then opened up the current chapter of Girl and started working. All the pieces are there but i'm doing this annoying thing where I write random scenes and then I don't know how the eff they're fitting together in this and the next chapter. So I'm working on arranging the puzzle. I tentatively hope to finish the chapter within the next few days.
I'll admit to not reading the comics, so only knowing vague info about them. :p But I have a deep and abiding distaste for Andrew (also Kennedy), so I will concur with your resentment that he's off doing stuff and Faith's kicked to the curb. :p
Thank you!
Nice.
I look forward to seeing where this goes.
A good first chapter.
Go Buffy!
go Faith!
Author's Response:You're up late! :) it's actually a drabble, so there's no more of it, haha. At least not right now. Never say never, as they umm, say.
