That was so cute! I absolutely loved Giles playing wingman, and how Buffy and Faith's relationship developed so beautifully. Them trying to hide their relationship from the scoobies, but Andrew still knowing was a great little detail. This fic is just perfect in every way! :)
Author's Response:Hi, Valkyrie! I'm so happy you liked the story and let me know!
I love that you liked Giles as wingman. It was fun to write him being sneaky and always in the know. Same with Andrew's Slaydar.
I think what's "just perfect in every way" is your extremely nice feedback.
Thank you :) :) :)
Bobbi
Another great, sweet story. I love how you handle the character voices, and I can always hear the actresses voices delivering the dialogue.
Also, since this is apparently a fic where the Spuffy bit is brought up, especially by reviewers, put me down in the "liking Spuffy" camp. I get why a lot of people don't, especially after the massvie character derailment of Season 6. But I felt like their platonic relationship in Season 7 was much healthier for them both, and the undercurrents of potential for something more was really touching.
Been fighthing the urge to write a Fuffy/Spuffy fic where B has to come to terms with her feelings, not just for her current two suitors, but also leftover emotional detritus from Angel and Riley. Been a very long time since I've written, but you, Alice, Electra, and Declan have been inspiring me to get back in the game.
Author's Response:Well look at you -- reading another one of my stories! And liking it!! Yea!!!
I love you can hear the actresses when you read, and I'm going to be smiling straight through the weekend.
Not surprisingly I agree with your thoughts on Spuffy. I found the storyline really intriguing from start to finish, and I'd pair Buffy with Spike if Faith wasn't in the picture.
Hey, no urge fighting allowed when it comes to writing. Your story idea sounds really interesting, so I say dig in and get going. I'm honored to play even a small part in inspiring you to write again. I think that's going to have me smiling for the whole month.
Thank you for the feedback :) :) :)
A very well written fic. I enjoyed it immensely from beginning to end though kind of confused at the mature rating but it was very pleasant reading.
Author's Response:PhoenixJay,
I'm so happy to hear you liked the story! Doesn't get much better than being told the fic was "well written".
As for the rating, well, yeah. A lot of my Fuffys do deserve a mature rating, plus it makes it easier to write and not worry if I'm crossing a line. It's sort of become a habit over the years, and I think that's what happened here. My bad; I'm glad you still enjoyed the read.
Thanks for the feedback : ) : ) : )
I really enjoyed this.
You have a way of writing this pairing like its the most natural thing in the world for both the characters, but still include all the snark and wit and humour that makes this such a great couple.
Also you write them having sex a lot! Which I also enjoy and I think, post-S7, is entirely understandable. Two hormonally charged super-women who enjoy sex are gonna indulge themselves. :)
Like one of the above reviewers I detest Spuffy on many levels (and I think it damaged the characters of Buffy and Spike more than a little)...but I do understand that the relationship mattered to Buffy and that she would take some time to mourn/contemplate Spike's sacrifice.
I think her 'time off' made sense from that perspective as well as just 'taking a break' from her own life.
I don't think Buffy ever really loved him, but she did care for him at the end, and even if their relationships was one of the most unhealthy ones I've even seen on television, in the end it had become something...genuine I think is the word I would use.
Not as important as Bangel, or Briley (or even Buffy's own complicated relationship with Faith) but it happened, it was there, and deserved to be acknowledged- kudos for doing so.
A lot of your dialogue was beautifully written, the Buffy/Faith interplay was natural (I've probably already said that, but it deserves repeating) and all the other characters felt true to themselves, which I like in a Fuffy story.
Loved the ending.
Yay Giles for being so cunning in working his wiles!
Gotta love him for it. :)
I will now go and hunt out more of your stories.:P
(I've only ever read your Fuffy fic 'Barriers', which was one of the best pieces of fiction I've ever read- EVER!)
Author's Response:Declan,
First things first: this is one of the nicest, most thoughtful reviews ever. I am so happy you enjoyed the story and so very appreciative that you let me know :)
Saying I wrote the pairing: "like it's the most natural thing in the world for both the characters", well how does anything get any better than that? Uh...maybe with: "...but still include all the snark and wit and humor that makes this such a great couple."
Yeah, they do seem to have sex a lot and I don't think I could sum up why nearly as well as you did.
I completely get what you're saying about Spuffy and I understand why some people didn't care for their relationship. For me personally, I really liked his struggle to overcome his demon, how he swung back and forth between evil and not so evil. I liked that his love for Buffy eventually won out, that he got his soul to be a better man for her, and while I don't necessarily think Buffy was in love with him, I do think she loved him. Maybe it could have turned into something else somewhere down the line, maybe not, but it's right there on the screen that she cared for him and that he saved the day.
You calling it "genuine"...I don't think I would have ever thought to use that word, but it sums up their relationship just right for me. I will be stealing that from here on out.
I'm Snoopy dancing that you liked the dialogue and that "all the other characters felt true to themselves". And please, do repeat that "the Buffy/Faith interplay was natural" as many times as you feel you need to. I know I'll never get tired of hearing it ;)
Damn, where were you when I was trying to come up with a title? "Giles' Wiles" would have been perfect!
Wow..."Barriers" praise too? And such wondefully flattering praise that I can't figure out what to say other than a very giddy: "Thank you, Declan."
I guess that sort of sums up my response to this entire feedback: "Thank you, Declan." I really appreciate you reading the story and leaving the kind of feedback that has me grinning like a fool. I don't think I'll be snapping out of it any time soon : ) : ) : )
I really liked that, sweet and well written.
However, what I didn't care for was the bit about the blonde vampire, I felt it unnecessary to the story. Esp in a femslash story.
As well as incorrect cuz Buffy never loved that a-hole and I very much doubt the mourned him when his sorry ass burned up. That was a good 5 years overdue. Sorry I just really hate the dude.
Author's Response:Hi, Guest.
I'm glad you liked the story. "Sweet and well written"...I like the sound of that!
I'm sorry you don't care for the blonde vampire, previously known as Spike. Of course I disagree with you (not to go all schoolyard, but you disagreed with me first. See how I tossed Angel into the mix there?), but I'm happy you finally got to vent after five years.
Thanks for the feedback : ) : ) : )
freaking awesome!!!!!!!
Author's Response:shanesthebest,
Yes you are!!!!!!!
Thrilled you liked the fic and thanks for the feedback : ) : ) : )
As with Seasons, your prose and storytelling had me enraptured
Thanks for writing and posting this ... I enjoyed it very much
Author's Response:Howdy, FanGirl! As always your kind words make me grin like a fool, and I can't tell you how happy I am that you liked the story. Thank you for reading and feeding back : ) : ) : )
hey, luv your stories! liked this one alot! liked the feel and the flow and had to laugh that giles knew all along! good idea to make them talk on a regular bases, inspired i'd say!
Author's Response:Hi, Madison4865! Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been out of town for the last several days. I'm so happy you liked the story, as well as some of my other ones :) Saying you "liked the feel and flow" has me doing a happy dance, and I'm outright giddy you got a laugh out of Giles knowing. Guess the guy really earned his title in this fic.
Thank you for the feedback! : ) : ) : )
