You undid me with just these few words...

 

”"You're fucking dead!" Faith screamed. She swung at Buffy, who easily deflected the blow and let Faith fall into her arms. "You fucking left me! You promised! I told you - I fucking told you forever was a lie, but you promised!" she knew her words were getting less coherent through her tears, but she kept on, her fists beating ineffectually at Buffy's chest. "You died in my arms - I screamed until I couldn't make noise anymore! Willow had to magic me off your corpse so they could fucking bury you! You left me!" Faith screamed, collapsing. Buffy wrapped her arms around her and slid down to the floor, still cradling her in her arms.”

 

and now im a sad, sobbing mess... thanks.

Not going to lie, that was one of my favorite passages to write.  I'm glad it had the effect I wanted, but sorry for making you sad!

this has to be one of the more interesting plots I’ve read in a long while and I noticed that this fix has been drawn out over years and i hope to get an update soon. It’s pretty dark though, is there anyway to separate Dawn as a person from her essence an the key? And the fire is still looking pretty fucked but I’m hoping even though they don’t exactly win from what I’m gathering that faith and Buffy do get to stay together . To many fix’s year them apart and it’s just like , they’re already not together in the series I just want them to be together no character deaths in there relationship where the need to go on without the other because faith already lived that life . The world can be screwed and they may never stop fighting but they can at least always fight side by side..

Thank you for the kind words.  Honestly, I don't know if it's going to get wrapped up anytime soon, as I'm just sort of writing when I have motivation.  An excellent question about Dawn, but one that I can't answer without spoiling things.  I don't guarantee a happy ending for our slayers, but I can promise this much - they'll be together until the end, one way or another.  They've done their time apart, now it's time for another direction.  Thanks again for the review! :)

Such good writing. Thank-you for not making this an easy feel good story. The tough decisions and angst are perfect. 

I get why Faith did what she did. The soldiers had future knowledge and would've continued on with the mission even though their general died and now that they were in the past they had more resources. This must've been hard on Faith since she wanted redemption but that's not possible when in a war with the military and demons. The others don't understand since Faith gave them the basics of her future and not the details of what she had done and seen. Can't wait for the next update. 

just re-read your story, said it on bnf and will say it here, your a good writer and this is an excellent story and your reads deserve to see it finished! so HAPPY to see you pick it up again! cannot wait to see what happens next!
