Walk The Line: Season One
I think that I read this around six or seven years ago, and I wanted to finally stop by and tell you how beautifully written this is. The plot, the characterizations, the romance. This is so goddamn good. I loved your bringing Anya back, and I love how this is *exactly* what I could see happening if they really did a Faith spin-off (and had the balls to pair her with Buffy because even though it needed to happen, it probably wouldn't have in canon). But as much as I love everything about this story, you know what made me come back to it? The music. I usually don't do suggested listening for fic, but man, am I glad I did here. You gave me some extremely awesome listening material, stuff that I still love, and a few songs that always make me think of the scenes attributed to them (So I Thought and Flames... My God). Literally yesterday I was listening to Change by the Deftones and thought about the scene in the warehouse and the rest of the fic and immediately had to come find it again. As much as I wish season two would continue, I understand all too well how hard finishing or going back to old fic after your inspiration dies out can be, so I don't bame you one bit and I am super happy with how this leaves off no matter what. So thank you for writing such a wonderful fic, one that I still come back to and think about years after!
That was good!
The characterisation of Faith is spot-on here, and I love the interactions between her and Andrew. And it's nice to see Faith getting a little Scooby Gang of her own.
And I got to say, I feel bad for Cam. She's obviously pretty into Faith. And Willow's best-friend-defensiveness of Buffy after Cam "relaxed" Faith was pretty awesome.
Hope you continue the series!
Author's Response:Thanks so much! This story is definitely my baby, and man oh man do I love to hear people sympathizing with (and possibly even liking?) Camryn. I started writing an entire "secret" episode that was just her backstory and how she plays into this season (and the next). i never finished it, but I think it's partially posted at my site, if you ever want to take a look :p
I would really like to finish the second season some time. Hopefully my muse will pay a visit in the near future :)
Thanks for your feedback!
I have reviewed this story before on ff.net, but you can never get enough feedback right? When I first read this story, I was flummoxed by how good it was. It had some grammatical errors in it, but the dialogue was all character right. There was comedy as well as love and friendship and the fact that Faith sets herself up in Las Vegas just seemed right for her. I didn't wish it on him, but I sort of am glad Robin is out of the way. I feel he would have clung to Faith no matter what and that would've put a kink in her beginning relationship with Buffy. I especially like the scene in later chapters where everyone is infected by the Final evil and they are all embodying the 7 sins and Dawn has to go around squirting everyone with Holy Water including Buffy and Faith. Had me seriously cracking up. That fact that you can come up with plot points like that makes these stories very much worth reading. I hope you update on the second series very soon. Great work! :)
Literally inhaled this series, chapter by chapter.
Ohmigoodness, loved it. Charactertisation, plot, delivery, everything nailed on the head... And I thought the additions of Cam and Sara were really well done; fully fleshed out characters who had more than purpose, they have personality too. Looking forward to seeing more of them in Season 2...
Not convinced Cam doesn't have it bad for Faith though...
And Buffy and Faith are freaking adorable together, in a way that feels completely natural to the vibe of the show. KUDOS.
Really excited to get sucked into seaso 2 now!!
Author's Response:Hi RC! I'm so, so happy that you've enjoyed the first part of the series. It's kind of my pet project, or my baby if you will, I think mostly because of the original characters I included. The fact that you liked them too just puts me right over the moon. :) There will be plenty more of them in the second season, whenever I get around to finishing it anyway!
And yes, there's the rub. It's still unfinished :( But!...I'm kind of inspired to work on it lately, so hopefully that'll happen soon. Thanks so much for stopping by with your thoughts. Just reading them is a pretty good motivation for me! :)
